Our film is about two school girls who go missing in park on there way to school, they are being watched by a stalker who is hiding in a bush and is planning to kidnap them. The film comes under the conventions of a psychological thriller genre due to the lighting used, sound affects and after affects we used in our opening clip. Our thriller opening sequence plans to engage the audience and make them think what is going to happen next it will give them the cliff-hanger feeling so they will want to continue watching.
To start off our thriller opening sequence will we be using the a full long shot this will be the two school girls walking through the park to get to school, this scene will be shot in black and white as it creates tense atmosphere. We shall the be using a over the shoulder shot which will be concentrating on the back of the characters head this will be when the stalker is watching the school girls from the bush. Furthermore we will then be using a mid shot which will show the two girls talking, we then will be using the same shot focusing on the bush when it starts to shake. The next shot will be a close up of the feet and then of the mobile phone ringing which is also a close up. The black and white colour effect is then removed and the normal colours are shown.
We decided to go through with this storyline as it has some edge to it and things like this do happen in reality, some some of the viewers can relate to this. The story line can also have an effect on parents and they may act upon it and tell their children to be safe and to be alert at all times. We all got together and planned out where we was going to shoot our thriller opening sequence and the props we was going to use and who was going to star in it. In the end we decided to shoot it in South Norwood Lakes which is a 10 minute walk from our school, this is good as we didn't have to travel that far and all the people who were starring in the clip can easily get there. The park is quiet and is a good place to shoot as lot of people do walk through parks to get to places. Straight away the audience will know where it is set and where the scene started off.
Our thriller opening is a typical psychological thriller this is because of the music we used, camera angles used and finally editing skills. In conclusion I think that our thriller opening sequence is a good idea, as situations like this occur all the time and people who will watch the opening clip will want to carry on watching.
